Dear Shareholders of Seldovia Native Association, Inc.,

I am honored to have this opportunity to say hello as your Corporation’s new Chief Executive Officer.  It is indeed exciting to join your Company at time in its history that is seeing progressive growth and strategic expansion.  A strong foundation has been built by the hard work of your Board of Director’s and CEO Mike Beal over the last several years.

SNAI now has in place operating companies that have generated a profit, and this means we have a platform from which to grow.  It is always a challenge to strike a balance in moving forward between the economic and social challenges we face.

As an Alaska Native I have spent my entire career involved in working in the Native Corporate arena and in  Banking, focused  on prudent growth for Native owned business enterprises.  I believe strongly that the mission for Alaska Native Businesses lies, in not only addressing the needs of our founding shareholders, but in building a strong economic engine so that future generations of shareholders can grow and benefit from our efforts.

This will be a period of transformation for your Corporation.  Change can sometimes be difficult; but all of us grow strong, much as our ancestors did in adapting to meet the challenges ahead by using the strengths of our culture. We face many challenges, the fight to gain our remaining land entitlements, setting a strategic vision with  measurable goals, and continuing to operate the businesses we are engaged in prudently and profitably.

I am confident, however, that during this transformation, your Board of Director’s and I, working closely with Michael Beal as he closes out his long and successful career with you, will be able to achieve a smooth passage to a new future for your company.

In the coming year I look forward to meeting and getting to know many of you and hope that you will engage and challenge me to help grow your company.  I am thankful for this opportunity.
